Born into a family of jewelers from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Flora María Sánchez, a training architect, has 30 years dedicated to the profession of jewelry designer. Her hallmark is the use of Mexican amber, creatively combining resin millennia, natural stones, and silver to inspire a connection with the earth through its natural elements.

Flora Maria´s fundamental purpose is to create jewels inspired by causes that have a social transcendence; her latest collection Lacandona embodies this idea and reflects her new home – the Lacandona Jungle in the beautiful state of Chiapas, sharing a special focus on the colonial city of San Cristobal de las Casas.

The Lacandona collection consists of 12 pieces inspired by the symbolic species of this jungle region, such as ants, armadillos, dragonflies, beetles and jaguars. With the idea that each of these jewels form part of a personal collection, Flora intends to raise awareness about the real concern of possible extinction of these species in this unique jungle region.

Flora Maria is an award-winning jewelry designer with boutiques throughout Mexico and Europe.
