A Tasteful Trio in Downtown Vancouver

A Tasteful Vancouver Stay at the Hotel Georgia, A Rosewood Resort

In a city full of rich cuisine and culture it is easy to get lost in the endless options. If you want to spend a wonderful day within one block then the historic Hotel Georgia, A Rosewood Resort, is the place to do it. The renowned hotel was exceptionally restored and rebranded in 2011 as a Rosewood. Any restaurant in a high-end hotel has to be multi-talented and appeal to all kinds of patrons. They found a perfect match by choosing David Hawksworth as the chef to run his own restaurant inside (also available to outside patrons). Hawksworth, named after its founder, is five-time winner of the Best Upscale Restaurant in Vancouver Magazine’s Restaurant Awards.

Start your day beside the hotel lobby at Belcafe, which more than holds its own against the myriad of great coffee shops Vancouver is known for, such as Revolver. With a very clean and chic design the small café not only excels at coffee but also in their pastries and desserts. From cookies to cream puffs and possibly the best croissants in the city, be sure to try something with your coffee.

On the other side of the lobby is Hawksworth. With several settings to enjoy lunch, whether it be casual as the granite bar or leather banquette in the nearby lounge, or elegant as the chandeliered Pearl Room or the Art Room, Hawksworth is set up for a wonderful experience. The food is ‘ingredients led, contemporary cuisine’ that celebrates the cultural diversity as well as the diverse local environment of Vancouver. Detailed combinations of flavors and fine presentation provide an experience that is exciting in taste and texture, bright and inspired. For example the Miso Sablefish accompanied by brown rice and adorned with kimchi carrot, crispy egg yolk and cilantro.

Vancouver Art Gallery is right across the street for those looking to enjoy an afternoon of culture. At night, Hawksworth turns up the glamour, perfect for a date night or celebration. Rosewood’s Bar on the fourth floor, The Garden Terrace, Reflections, has a beautiful ‘urban oasis’ atmosphere and the turnout shows it. Exquisite seasonal cocktails are the kind of details Rosewood always gets right.

Exceeding themselves once more they were inspired by their sister property in Los Cabos, Las Ventanas al Paraiso, A Rosewood Resort, and created a taco menu this summer “blending the influences of Mexico with the finest local products of Vancouver” to provide a taste of the outstanding resort in Vancouver. Visit any or all of these exquisite outlets in Vancouver and the day will be an extraordinary one.
