Mexico: great inspiration for fashion designers

The Mexican culture, traditions and talents have inspired several collections.

Mexican culture has been causing a lot of excitement on the fashion news for some time. Its colorful details, its embroidery and playful patterns have been the inspirational muse of many worldwide renowned fashion designers. Growing numbers of designers are drawing inspiration from the pre-Columbian
clothing, and they’re coming up with fashions that give tradition a contemporary twist.

Kate Spade Summer 2017

Her stunning pieces with designs in the artistic Frida Kahlo style could be found in her bags, clothes, shoes, jewelry, cell phone cases and even pajamas. Our very bright colors stood up such as pink, red, lilac, green, black and white. She combined them with embroidery and hummingbirds, piñatas, cactus and flowers patterns.

Naeem Khan Pre Fall 2017

He used the typical bold, oversized embroidered florals. The resulting styles are beautiful and sophisticated, though this high-end approach owes much of its allure to the craftwork of traditional Mexican styles.

Christian Louboutin Spring 2017

He has redefined luxury with authentic artisanal pieces that make a difference. He admits to loving Mexican design, and the Mexicaba, a vibrantly colorful hand- woven tote, proofs it. This truly bespoke carry-all is decorated with exquisite Mayan embroidery and beans made of wood and bone. It was created in collaboration with Taller Maya, a design brand that works with artisans from the Yucatan Peninsula in the creation of unique pieces with history and great cultural value.
